Surrealism
Meaning of surrealism - Surrealism is a style in art and literature in which ideas, images and even objects are combined together in a strange way to create a surrealism image.
Why is surrealism used in campaigns? - Surrealism marketing aims are not only to create an intriguing and modern visual however it's used to ignite hype by grabbing the consumers attention but it is not easy.
One image from Lex Drewinski ( what was it created for?) what I think it is about? describe how it would appeal to an audience?

This poster was created by Lex Drewinski which is about racism.
Surreal Poster
How I made it: I have used an appllication named Adobe illustrator 2024. I first got myself a plain black background and found a png picture of a knife and pasted it on the black background. Next I used a tool on the adobe app and created a sort of blood dripping effect at the top of the page to make it look more surrealism with a short white paragraph on the left hand side of the knife
My opinion of this work: My honest opinion of this poster is that I really like it as the colours match the social campaign name red, black and white however I tried to use words instead of the blade of the knife but it didn't work out so well. This poster could have been better if only I had more understanding of adobe illustrator

Short summary of why it would be successful - it would reach every ground of he globe which could get many people on my side and fight for knife crime
Social campaign - Secondary research
I have been searching around the internet to learn more about the knife crime in the uk however I have also been seeing some magazines about it. For example there are many magazines about knife crime but only one of them stood out to me in particular which is Fighting Knife Crime - magazine. The Colours and layout of the website intrigued me which I tend to use in my social campaign project. This secondary research is really relevant towards y project as I would need to research about other knife crime campaigns to gather more ideas and information to put into my own campaign.
Between 2012-13 and 2019-20, knife offences increased by around 85% which was taken from the policing insight website. We can also examine data on hospital admissions, which reflect the serious consequences of knife crime. These also increased from 2014-15 to 2018-19, though to a lesser degree than recorded crime. Data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) reveals that in the year ending March 2023, 41% of all homicides in England and Wales were knife-related, equating to 244 stabbing deaths out of 590 total homicides. This marks a significant proportion, highlighting the deadly consequences of knife crime. (college of policing)
Social campaign - Primary research
I have been researching somme interviews and also some questionnaires in which I tend to use swell however while I was researching about these primary research it has caught my eye. The questions that have been used in certain questionnaires are really great to create different views and perspectives about knife crime. This method of primary research is really relevant as I would need to know exactly what type of questions I will be asking throughout my interviews and also questionnaires. Motivations for carrying weapons in the uk are :
- Self protection and fear(defensive weapon carrying) - particularly for individuals who have previously been a victim of crime(Lemos, 2004)
- Self presentation - particularly for individuals who want "street credibility" and "respect" (Silvestri and others, 2009)
- Utility (offensive weapon carrying) - particularly for individuals who use weapons to facilitate other behaviours (Brennan, 2017) such as theft, sexual assault, injury and serious harm

The Ben Kinsella Trust is a well known website that is seen as a knife crime prevention website. I will create a website along the lines of this one as it is interesting and vague. They want to interact with the target audience as they are speaking straight to them by using imperative phrases "Get involved". This website has an intriguing choice of colours using yellow as the self-esteem and expressing the ego however also the use of purple to show ambition and power. The image that Ben Kinsella has used in this website showing children all looking confused and shocked which is really suitable for knife crime.

In my website I have added a "Donate" button for other people who are viewing this website to come together a one and help those in need who are victims of knife crime. The black and one colours used in my website give it a professional and clean look so it would be easier for people of any age to read and understand.
Taking pictures with my own hand and putting them on my website shows creativity and uniqueness. Taking a picture at night on the street shows that it's a dangerous place for anyone to be walking through. Furthermore, I have placed the origin of how Sharp Decisions got released and why.
Case studies are a real good way to prove and show people how dangerous knife crimes really are. Quotes had been said by the people who are victims of knife crime to share to the world how to protect yourself and how to avoid becoming a victim of this in the future.
Main goal/purpose
Sharp Decisions are trying to stop knife crime and protect young people from becoming victims or even involved around knife crime. We don't condone any type of fights however we would rather keep fists up and knifes down as the injuries won't cause to death instantly. Sharp decisions are helping and many different ways like, providing pastoral support, advocating for the families to access trauma therapy in many types of forms which are listed on the website under "Case Studies". Furthermore, fundraisers are also a part of our Sharp Decisions plan to help get the victims and their families back on their feet.
Target Audience
I truly believe that the target audience for my social campaign should be generally around thirteen years of age to thirty. Most Knife crimes start from the early ages of thirteen and tend to end late in their thirties once they have there own family. Ethnicity - Not relevant in this context as it appeals to anyone. However, the most amount of knife crimes are caused by Black or Asians aged 15-25, according to https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9886559/#:~:text=Most%20of%20the%20victims%20and,25%20%5B16%2D18%5D.
"This exploitation of youth is a key driver of knife crime, particularly in urban areas where gang activity is prevalent. Socio-economic vulnerabilities, such as poverty, lack of educational opportunities, and mental health issues, further exacerbate the problem".https://aoav.org.uk/2024/knife-crime-on-the-rise-in-the-uk-analysing-the-data-and-exploring-solutions/
Evaluation
In my opinion my campaign are in some what relatable towards the websites I have researched as both websites have a "Donate" button on which all viewers can join together and help the people who fall victims of knife crimes. Furthermore, both campaigns (Ben kinsella and Sharp Decisions) have used their own pictures in which they took themselves. However, even if they do have some similarities there are also differences for example... the colours which ben kin sells have used were purple and yellow wether as in Sharp Decisions the colours are mainly white and black to give it a clean and professional look. The main research sources that have inspired me in my work are mainly the Ben Kinsella website, Knife crime matters website. After my first poster and website I decided to create another poster which is more for a younger audience with less writing but important messages and more/bigger pictures as it attracts more individuals.
